During the summer months, you (or your children) have two “problems”: 1) it’s hot outside, and 2) you’re looking for a fun pastime or activity. Having a water gun fight can solve both problems: it’ll cool you off, and also be a fun type of recreation. You can use them by the pool, at the beach, or even just in your yard or patio. But, as your kids get older, you’ll want water guns that are more sophisticated. You’ll see that there are designs that differ in how much water they can hold, so that you don’t have to load your water gun so often. And they differ in their range as well, with some being able to reach as far as 70 feet.
We’ve composed this buyer’s guide to help you make the right decision when selecting a water gun for adults. It'll help you:
Choose the right type of adult water gun,
See useful tips about that particular type of adult water gun,

There is actually a wide variety of water gun designs--much more than just a pistol as in the classic design. Let’s examine some of the designs:
Water Pistol: In this design, you fill up the pistol’s reservoir with water, and close it with a plug. When you pull the trigger on a typical water pistol, it lets a pump draw water from the reservoir. The pump then pushes the water through the barrel of the pistol, and out the nozzle.

Pressurized air or water: You have probably encountered water guns where you have to pump the device first before pulling the trigger. This pumping action puts the water under pressure, by introducing air into the reservoir. Pressing the trigger will allow the pressurized water to leave the pistol’s nozzle. An example is the Simrex 528 Water Gun.

Water guns with a backpack reservoir: To overcome the small water reservoir problem with pump water guns, some have resorted to a water reservoir in a backpack. An example is the Aeromax Astronaut Space Pack, with twin tanks that you wear on your back, that can hold up to one liter of water. It also uses the pump design, which allows you to fire a stream of water that reaches up to 30 feet.

Use in your garden: A water gun that’s this powerful can even be used for watering the lawn. It’s especially good for delicate garden plants, that you don’t want to hit too hard with your garden hose. It can also be aimed quite accurately. Also, if there are any animal pests around, a water gun with this type of reach is quite formidable. One customer successfully used his Stream Machine to shoo away a woodpecker that was pecking away at his house. It’s effective and humane at the same time.
Range: How far you can shoot is probably important to you if you’re engaged in a water gun fight. There are syringe water guns that have an amazing reach. The Stream Machine can shoot a stream of up to 70 feet. Others, such as the Simrex 528 Water Gun reaches 30-35 feet.
Reservoir size: One drawback of the syringe style water gun is that you have to refill the water gun frequently. Fortunately, other designs have a large water reservoir--the Aeromax can hold up to a liter of water. That can allow you up to 60 shots without having to fill the reservoir. On the other hand, the Goodayeah Water Gun Blaster is entirely handheld, but it can hold up to 1.2 liters of water. (It’s a bit large, but it’s suitable for children from age 6 and up.)

Special features: The Aeromax Astronaut Blaster allows you to arrange the nozzles in such as way so as to shoot in two directions at once. Not many water guns on the market can do that--you can hit two opponents with a single press of the trigger!
Materials: Try to buy water guns made of durable plastic. ABS is a polymer plastic with better hardness and toughness--so it’s a preferred material in many water guns.
Whiteleopard is a maker of recreational water toys. Besides making blaster water guns, they also make pool floats and water beads.
Aeromax makes costumes and gear for kids and adults to dress up as astronauts, firefighters, and policemen. They also make aeronautic-related toys and accessories. Their astronaut space pack is a water gun which allows you to wear the water tank on your back! (60 blasts from 1-liter refill)
Simrex--manufacture some very elaborate toys and recreational devices, as well as household appliances. Their products include remote control cars, drone quadcopters, inflatable swimming pools, and more.
Bunch O Balloons is a brand of the water recreation company, Zuru, which was founded in 2015. Their flagship product is a patent that fills up many water balloons at once--and even ties them!--so that you can have an epic water balloon fight. They also make water guns and other water fun accessories.
Stream Machine is located in North Aurora, Illinois, and are manufacturers of all sorts of water fun products: water cannons, water balloon launchers, and their Stream Machine Launcher. They also make pool accessories for water versions of the major sports: football, baseball, basketball, and volleyball.
